Steve Hughes has led Aspect Enterprise Solutions from a start-up software specialist in the oil industry to the leader in cloud-delivered solutions for multiple commodities. Steve’s software expertise continues to spearhead Aspect Enterprise Solutions’s continued annual growth as a top technology platform which has helped create a new paradigm for the way commodities trading companies select ETRM/CTRM software. Aspect’s successful evolution to a leading global solution is fueled by Steve’s business prowess and years of experience in software which includes: CEO of Carnegie Information Systems, a provider of highly customizable CRM software solutions; Vice President of International Operations of Europe for YOUcentric, which was purchased by J D Edwards (since acquired by Peoplesoft, now Oracle). At YOUcentric, along with building the company’s operations from scratch in the UK and Europe, he participated in the company’s IPO, merger and acquisitions activities. He gained significant exposure to the process, and built relationships within both the software and investment community that he has sustained and strengthened since. Steve has also built relationships and business partnerships with key executives within CGEY, PWC and others. Prior to YOUcentric, Steve served on the management teams at POINT Informations Systems, Seer Technologies and Legent Corporation.
Brigette Gebhard is a long-time veteran of Aspect Enterprise Solutions, beginning in 2004. She has more than twenty years of consumer and business-to-business marketing experience. Brigette’s hands-on, diverse role involves Marketing, Sales and Product Management. She is responsible for regional and global retention and new business programs, communications, analyst and public relations, and plays a key role in Aspect’s continued growth. She brings a vast amount of experience in brand building, digital marketing (SEO, PPC, social media), marketing automation, advertising, direct response marketing, corporate communications and public relations. She has led sales and marketing teams in the publishing, gaming/hotels, and software/technology industries, and has been driving subscription revenues for oil-industry products and services for the last 20 years. Prior to joining Aspect Enterprise Solutions, she was on the management team of leading North American petroleum publisher, OPIS, where she was instrumental in developing, launching, and supporting more than USD 25 million in real-time news, pricing and analytical services and seminars for oil and transportation professionals.
Chetna Bhatia joined Aspect Enterprise Solutions in 2009 and has more than 20 years of experience in commodities trading and risk management. Her experience includes achieving overall client loyalty, building and increasing revenue streams, complex program management, team building, managing global IT teams and the ability to bridge the gap between business and technical teams. She has a rare combination of business knowledge (commodities trading) and technical skills. Prior to joining Aspect Enterprise Solutions, Chetna worked for a number of companies including SunGard, Nasdaq Smarts Group, Vedaris and interacted with clients like BG, Shell, Statoil, BP, AEP and the London Stock Exchange. At Aspect, Chetna manages and plays a key role in setting up processes, teams and tools for making Aspect’s cloud solution delivery successful. She manages Aspect’s cloud platform, technical strategy, architecture, infrastructure, software engineering and services including Professional Services and 24-hour Global Support Desk for all Aspect Enterprise Solutions products. As CIO, Chetna’s role is to lead the global IT agenda by driving strategy, implementation and support for internal and external business and tech teams, applications, platforms, networks and data centers.
As Chief Financial Officer, Seetha oversees all aspects of Finance and Administration, Aspect Partnership Program and Mergers & Acquisitions. She has extensive experience in managing international finance activities and business partnering for leading corporations including Johnson and Johnson, Orthofix, Dun and Bradstreet, Xerox, Reed Elsevier, Facilities Services Group and State Bank of South Australia. Much of her experience and strength at Aspect Enterprise Solutions is in her ability to manage global financial information with varying laws and tax practices throughout Europe, North America and Asia. Seetha holds a Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University in Canada and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
Steve Hellman co-founded Aspect Enterprise Solutions Enterprise Solutions, as OILspace, in 1999 to create a global solutions provider for the energy industry. Steve began his career with a major commodities trading company where he developed and managed an investment portfolio of approximately USD 100 million in the former Soviet Union. He then established and managed a world-wide trading and shipping company, which he left to co-found OILspace.
After Steve became the non-executive Chairman of Aspect Enterprise Solutions in 2005, he built a large international real estate development company and a media company. Steve received an MS degree in Industrial Engineering and an AB in Political Science and Slavic Languages from Stanford University in 1987.
Lawrence co-founded Aspect Enterprise Solutions, as OILspace, and serves as a board member. He began his career in 1992 when he joined Phibro, Salomon Brothers’ proprietary energy trading subsidiary and one of the world’s largest energy traders. During his five years at Phibro, he designed and implemented Phibro’s worldwide risk management platform and deal valuation analytics using NeXT’s object-oriented development environment. In 1997, Lawrence moved to Salomon Brothers fixed income trading floor, where he designed and implemented innovative multifactor, nonparametric models of interest rate dynamics. In 1998, he accepted a position to head currency and fixed income derivatives trading at Renaissance Capital, which he left to co-found OILspace.
Lawrence graduated with First Class Honors in Economics from the University of British Columbia, where he won numerous academic awards, including the prestigious Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada Special MA Scholarship. He then accepted a full scholarship to Stanford’s Graduate School of Business PhD program, where he focused on auction theory, marketing of high technology products and the numerical implementation of quantitative analysis algorithms.

Franco Bernabé is the former CEO of ENI. Mr. Bernabé is currently the chairman of the Franco Bernabé Group, an investment and technology services company, the vice chairman of a mobile telephony company which owns a 3G license in Italy, and is the director of Petrochina, Fiat and TNT Post Group. Mr Bernabé is also the former CEO of Telecom Italia.
In addition, Mr Bernabé was the special representative of the Italian government for the reconstruction of the Balkan region and also serves on the Boards of the Peres Center for Peace and the World Economic Forum. Earlier in his career, Mr. Bernabé was a senior economist at the OECD and a professor of economics and politics at the School of Industrial Administration of Turin University.
Mr. Calderon Berti is a former President of OPEC and is widely regarded as one of the founders of the modern day oil market. He has also held the position of President of Petroleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA), the fifth largest oil company in the world, and served in a number of key posts in the Venezuelan government. Mr. Calderon Berti was previously responsible for establishing Venezuela’s state energy policies and had an important role during the nationalisation of the oil industry in the 1970s, turning PDVSA into one of the most profitable national oil companies in the world.
He currently works as a consultant on a wide-range of global energy issues and has served as a member of the Board of several European oil companies. While serving in the Venezuelan government, Mr. Calderon Berti’s posts have included Minister of Energy and Mines (1979-1983) and Minister of Foreign Affairs (1992). Most recently, he served as Deputy of the Venezuelan Congress and President of the Energy and Mines Commission (1989-1993). Mr. Calderon Berti began his career in the oil industry as a geologist and holds a Master’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering.
Mr. Bowlin was the Chairman of ARCO’s Board of Directors from 1995 to 2000, CEO from 1994 and a member of the Board since 1992. Mr. Bowlin began his career with ARCO in 1969 and joined the executive ranks fifteen years later. Mr. Bowlin has held senior positions in several major ARCO divisions in copper, coal, oil and gas.
He has been Chairman of the American Petroleum Institute, the California Business Roundtable, the Business Council and the National Petroleum Council. He is a member of the Board of Wells Fargo, the Board of Visitors of the Claremont Graduate School’s Center for Politics and Economics, a Trustee of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council, a Trustee of the California Institute of Technology, and a member of the World Economic Forum. Mr. Bowlin is also a Director of the Autrey Museum of Western Hermitage, and is involved with the American Red Cross and several other medical organizations.
Mr. Kantor is a former U.S. Secretary of Commerce and has a distinguished record of government service. Mr. Kantor, currently a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of the law firm Mayer, Brown & Platt, is one of the world’s leading international attorneys and specializes in expanding client activities in foreign markets through trade, direct investment, joint ventures and strategic business alliances.
He has represented a number of the world’s largest companies, including Ford, Aetna, Boeing, CitiGroup, Monsanto, UAL, UPS, PepsiCo and AOL. Additionally, he guides U.S. companies on access to Europe and Asia and serves as a senior advisor to Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Discover & Co., the global investment bank. As President Clinton’s U.S. Secretary of Commerce from 1996-1997 and trade representative from 1993-1996, Mr. Kantor concluded more than 200 trade agreements. Since leaving the government in 1997, Mr. Kantor has been a partner at Mayer, Brown & Platt where his primary practice has been in corporate and financial international transactions. Mr. Kantor earned his Law degree from Georgetown University Law School and holds a B.A. from Vanderbilt University.
Professor Klemperer, the Edgeworth Professor of Economics at Oxford University’s Nuffield College, is one of the world’s most respected auction theorists. Most recently, Professor Klemperer was the principal auction theorist advising the British government for the auction of its third generation mobile phone license spectrum. The auction, completed in April, raised GBP22.5 billion (US$32.6 billion) for the UK Exchequer, nearly five times more than the amount initially anticipated by the government, analysts and market forecasters.
In addition to his role as economics professor at Oxford, Professor Klemperer regularly advises governments and major corporations. He has advised the United States Federal Trade Commission on cases involving mergers and competition policy, and consulted with a number of the world’s largest companies, including in the oil industry, on how to effectively implement auctions and auction theory into their business strategies. Professor Klemperer holds a Ph.D. in Economics and an M.B.A. from Stanford University and graduated with honors from Cambridge University with a B.A. in Engineering.
Minister Nazer is a former Oil Minister of Saudi Arabia (1986-1995) and ex-chairman of Saudi Aramco, the largest oil company in the world. Minister Nazer currently heads the Nazer Group, a diverse holding company, with various interests in information technology, healthcare and property development, and remains one of the world’s most respected oil experts. He is regularly pursued for advice on energy issues by major oil companies and governments across the globe. Minister Nazer is also an accomplished author, having recently published the book, Power of a Third Kind.
Beginning his career in the oil industry in the early 1960s, Minister Nazer was the first governor to represent Saudi Arabia on the OPEC Board of Governors. When Minister Nazer became Oil Minister in 1986, he presided over the restructuring and integration of the Saudi oil industry. In 1989, Minister Nazer was named the first Saudi Chairman of the Board of the newly established Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco). Minister Nazer completed his studies at UCLA, receiving a B.A. with honors in International Relations and an M.A. in Political Science. He holds Honorary Doctor of Law degrees from the University of Korea and the American University in Cairo.
Mr. Norvik is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Statoil (1988-1999), the national oil company of Norway and the third largest seller of crude oil in the world. Mr. Norvik has played an important part in the development of European and Scandinavian energy markets through his leadership roles in both the private and public sector. He served as the Deputy Minister of Petroleum and Energy from 1979 to 1981 and was the Personal Secretary to the Prime Minister from 1976 to 1979.
Mr. Norvik has also held numerous government positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Institute of Technology and been the Group Secretary for Industrial and Financial Affairs. After leaving the government in 1981, Mr. Norvik joined Aker mek. Verksted A/S as Director of Finance and was a Senior Executive Vice President from 1985 to 1987. From 1986 to 1987, he was the President of Astrup Hoyer A/S. Mr. Norvik has been the Alternating Chairman of the Board of Directors of Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS), Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Den norske Bank ASA and Advisor to the Executive Board of PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Norvik earned his M.S. in Business from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration in Bergen.
Mr. Ofer has vast experience and relationships in the oil, shipping and technology markets, and has spent more than 20 years in top management positions in corporations throughout Europe, Asia and the United States. Mr. Ofer currently serves as the chairman of a prominent international holding company with diverse interests in semiconductors, chemicals and liner shipping, energy and advanced technology.
Previously, Mr. Ofer formed and managed Tanker Pacific Management Group, the largest private tanking fleet in the world. He also founded and managed a number of leading ventures in the maritime and energy industries. Mr. Ofer earned his M.B.A. from London Business School in England.
General Scowcroft, USAF (Ret.), is one of the country’s most renowned experts on national security issues, defence policy and foreign affairs. He is currently the President of The Scowcroft Group, Inc., an international business advisory firm. General Scowcroft served as Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs to Presidents Ford and Bush. He also served as Military Assistant to President Nixon and as Deputy Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs to Presidents Ford and Nixon.
Prior to joining the Bush Administration, General Scowcroft was Vice Chairman of Kissinger Associates, Inc. In the course of his military career, General Scowcroft has held positions in the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Headquarters of the U.S. Air Force, and the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defence for International Security Affairs. General Scowcroft also serves as a Director of Pennzoil-Quaker State and Qualcomm Corporations. He received his Undergraduate degree and commission into the Army Air Forces from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and earned an M.A. and Ph.D. from Columbia University.
